Renèe Estella: The Face Behind the Fun, Sexy, and Bright Clothing Line

  1. Tell me about yourself.

I am a full-time model and entrepreneur based out of Miami and New York. I come from a Latin and Middle Eastern background. I started my own clothing line a couple months ago. I’m very hard-working and disciplined. I have been independent since I was very young and I always have taken a lot of pride in that.

2. What is something you wish more people knew about you?

I have a very fun playful side about me that I don’t tend to show much on my social media. Because I’m actually extremely shy and most people don’t know that about me and definitely wouldn’t expect it since I do model. But I joke around a lot in my inner circle!

3. How did you start modeling? How did you know that modeling was something you wanted to do?

I started modeling when I was very young and I started dabbling in all different kinds of modeling. I started with music videos and since then I have done runway modeling as well as ecommerce. I always wanted to be a model and I have pursued it since a young age.

4. What inspired you to start your clothing brand? What separates Renèe Estella Co. from other clothing brands? How would you describe the pieces in the collection you just released?

I have always liked to stick out from the crowd and be unique. I have always found little issues with how clothing would fit me so I decided to create my own. Everything was 100% customized by me and a designer who helped me draw everything, all handmade in Colombia. Living in Miami is very tropical and fun and that’s exactly what my line represents a typical vacation line! Fun, sexy, and bright!

5. What can your audience expect from the first collection drop of Renèe Estella Co.?

I will say my first collection will definitely not be my BEST but one of my favs it is a very good representation of me my personality and my style I can’t wait to show everybody what’s next!

6. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced launching your own brand? How did you get through them?

I had many different challenges throughout this process, from finding who to make the clothes, to having my entire collection delayed, from tags not coming in, to color of packaging not being right. Any issue you can imagine, I faced. But I made the best out of the situation and pushed through because it is something I am passionate about. The first time is always the hardest so I was just hopeful to get it out and start working on my next collection for fall.

7. When it comes to designing clothes, what is your creative process like? Does your brand imitate current fashion trends? Will it be inclusive for women of all sizes?

I wouldn’t say I imitate any fashion trends but I definitely keep what’s in style in my mind while putting together the collections. I try to keep the most trendy colors for whatever season I’m launching! I wanted my summer collection to be fun and colorful. Anyone could wear my brand, my sizes are small, medium and large!

8. Being a woman in the fashion and social media industries can open the door to a lot of criticism about your appearance. Do these judgements affect your mental health, and if so, how do you cope?

At the end of the day, we are all humans and we all have feelings. Having many people criticize you daily can take a toll mentality but I have been in the industry for a while and grew very thick skin & QUICK. People will ALWAYS Judge me but as long as I’m staying true to myself, it doesn’t bother me. It comes with having a social media presence.
