Charlie Day marked the release of his directorial debut, Fool's Paradise, with a reception at Yamashiro Hollywood on Tuesday, May 9th. The film was distributed by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions, and officially premiered to the public on Friday, May 12th.

The satirical comedy stars Day as a man mistaken for a famous movie star and features a cast of well-known actors and renowned comedy stars including Jason Sudeikis, Ray Liotta, Kate Beckingsale, John Malkovich, Adrien Brody, Jillian Bell, and Ken Jeong. Day, who had his first major role in the long-running parody television series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is well known for starring in satirical comedies.

The premiere was held at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre  before guests moved half a mile up to the iconic hilltop location of the Japanese-fusion hot spot, Yamashiro. Guests at the reception enjoyed the stunning views of Los Angeles while sampling the restaurant's assorted seafood dishes and specialty cocktails.

With a history of cinematic appearances in films such as Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and Kill Bill (2003), the Japanese-inspired restaurant was the ideal setting for the celebration of the Day’s very first film.Yamashiro has a keen eye for unique detail and elegance that truly sets it apart from any other restaurants in the Hollywood scene. From its lush gardens to its gorgeous ponds filled with exotic koi fish, Yamashiro’s dedication to culture and aura has truly exceeded the standards of fine dining.

The cast and crew of the film arrived at the scene adorned in stunning formal attire and spared no effort in making their grand entrances; they spent their evening mingling and capturing photos at the Yamashiro afterparty. The star-studded guest list was greeted with a live sushi station, a wok station for yakisoba, and a binchotan charcoal grill for skewers. In between savoring the exquisite dishes prepared by skilled chefs, guests were captivated by the breathtaking views beyond the restaurant’s gates.

Yamashiro has recently launched a new spring dinner and brunch menu, which was highly recognized during the event. Along with the new additions, Yamashiro has also revamped its bar menu with refreshing spring cocktails and is now allowing guests without reservations to order food to enjoy at the bar. Diners can enjoy their meals in the crisp, open air of the Hollywood Hills, with heating lamps to keep them warm and enchanting string lights to light up the night. The Fool’s Paradise event is just one of the many events that Yamashiro plans to host this year, as the restaurant expertly blends ambience with their divine cuisine.
