Q: Your line JCPAJARES, has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Instyle, WhoWhatWear, Elle, Hola Mexico and many more! How does it feel to know your work is loved and admired within the fashion industry?

I’m so glad for it, it’s a dream.

Q: What interested you about the fashion industry growing up, and did you have a sense that you would be a part of it someday?

Yes, everyday since I was a child I saw the fashion advertising and I knew I wanted to be a part of that.

Q: What was the first piece you ever designed and how did it turn out?

It was a ballroom dress. (I started sewing self-taught when I was a teenager and I made costumes for my dance partners.)

Q: Over your career, what moments stand out?

A lot of moments… from a happy customer, won a prize, or a productive morning. You have to feel the happiness in the little things.
